Q: What is Nissan CONSULT-4 (C4)?
A: CONSULT-4 is Nissan / Infinity new web-based diagnostic software platform for the newest vehicle programs. It runs alongside CONSULT-III Plus (C3P) on the same PC and is used when a model is designated for C4 support.
Q: Does C4 replace CONSULT-III Plus?
A: No. C4 does not replace C3P. Both applications reside on the same Toughbook; C3P remains required for legacy models not assigned to C4.
Q: What about Nissan coverage under C4?
A: For Nissan, C4 applies to 2023+ ARIYA, 2024+ Rogue, and 2025+ Kicks, Murano, and Armada. All other Nissan models continue on C3P.
Q: Which Infiniti model years are covered by C4?
A: C4 currently applies to 2025 model year (and newer) Infiniti QX80 and 2026 model year (and newer) Infiniti QX60. Earlier Infiniti models continue to use C3P.
Q: What hardware is required?
A: C4 requires the Bosch VI3 vehicle interface and a certified Panasonic Toughbook (FZ-55) provisioned for CONSULT. Generic off-the-shelf PCs are not supported for C4.
Q: Is internet required?
A: Yes. C4 is a cloud/web-based application and needs a stable high-speed internet connection during use.
Q: Can I still use my VI2 interface?
A: No. C4 requires the VI3. The previous VI2 will not work with C4.
Q: What diagnostic enhancements come with C4?
A: Highlights include a modern web UI, DoIP (Diagnostics over IP) communication where applicable, automatic “All Systems” scans on connect, and improved ECU identification/selection.
Q: Are immobilizer and key functions supported?
A: Immobilizer/key programming remains available through the CONSULT platform where supported; access may require proper credentials (LSID) and may continue via C3P depending on model.
Q: How are software updates delivered?
A: When you open the C4 it update automatically.
Q: Which tool do I use for older Nissan / Infiniti models?
A: Use CONSULT-III Plus. Existing models built for C3P will not transition to C4 and will continue to be serviced with C3P.
Q: Can C4 and C3P be licensed together?
A: Yes. C4 and C3P are licensed separately but can be active on the same CONSULT-certified Toughbook with the VI3 interface.
